Yolanda Rasheed Obituary

Yolanda Baumgardner Rasheed born August 27, 1942 in Bluefield, West Virginia was the daughter of the late Willie Ernest and Nettie Wright Baumgardner. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bluefield. She graduated from Park Central High School. Having a love for children, she graduated from Bluefield State College with a degree in Elementary Education. Her career in teaching began in the Cleveland Public School System and later, Christ the King Catholic School. She retired from teaching after 20+ years.

Upon retiring from teaching, she became an entrepreneur, owning King’s Crispy Chicken and an in-home daycare known as Peaches Tots. Yolanda was the church secretary for Greater Love Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, Bishop Eugene W. Ward, Pastor She served as a spiritual advisor to many. She was able to live out her life’s mission of lending a helping hand and providing assistance where needed.

She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, watching movies with family, bowling, traveling for ministry and going out to eat. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, eating Sugar smacks, popcorn and drinking Pepsi. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Yolanda later married Murjan Rasheed and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Due to her illness, she returned to Ohio to live with her eldest daughter Angela Lee in 2016. Yolanda is predeceased by her parents, Willie and Nettie Baumgardner, brothers, Nathaniel and Clarence Baumgardner, sisters, Emma Williams and Laura McGhee, son, Ricky Peters and grandson, Jonathan Peters.

To celebrate and cherish her memory are two daughters, Rev. Angela Lee, Artheta Peters, one son, Randy Peters Sr., grandchildren-Lydia, Alaina, Greg, Shamell, Jazmine, Justin, Johnay, Leann, Randy Jr., eight great grandchildren, one sister Yvonne Ealy, Cincinnati, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Home going service will be conducted at Point of Grace Ministries, 6892 Lake Avenue with Pastor Darrell and Prophetess Vanessa Young officiating on Saturday, October 31, 202. Due to Covid-19, visitation is a walk-thru from 10:00 am to 10:30 am with service following.
