Obituary

WILLIE MAE BARKER

Willie Mae Austin Barker of Elyria passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 11, 2023, at UH of Elyria Medical Center at the age of 86. She was born June 22nd, 1936, in Coatopa, AL. She was a retired LPN at UH Elyria Hospital.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Elyria where she was active in Nursing Guild, Harrison Rucker Bible study. She was also a member of the Negro Business and Professional Women of Elyria. She loved traveling, spending time with her family, and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents Stewart and Edith Austin, siblings: Mamie Thomas, Mattie Lynch, and Corena Faulkner, brother, Robert Austin, husband Matthew Barker Sr, son Matthew Barker Jr.

She is survived by her sister Bertha Barry, children: Sheryl Wicks (Mario), Dollie Barker, and Kenneth Barker, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at 10am-11am Friday March 24th, 2023, at Second Baptist Church 427 Chapman Ln Elyria, Ohio, with a celebration of life to follow.
