William Macarthy Jr Obituary

"The stars shine a little brighter now.

"He determines the number of the stars and call them each by name" Psalm 147:4

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we celebrate the life of William Macarthy Jr., lovingly known to many as "Twiggs" who passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born on November 13, 1950, William was the fifth born child of William and Lucille Macarthy. He attended Oberlin Public Schools and went on to spend more than 50 years as a dedicated truck driver a career he took great pride in.

William was a deeply thoughtful and spiritual man who loved his family fiercely and found joy in the world around him. He enjoyed jazz, loved football and drag racing, and had a special fascination with eagles and hawks. He enjoyed watching the weather and always loved a good storm. Whether tracking the forecast, watching for full moons, or calling loved ones across the country to check on them during bad weather, William always kept an eye on the skies - and on the people he cared about most.

William was preceded in death by his parents William and Lucille Macarthy, and by his sisters Lucille Dais, and sister Jane Macarthy.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving partner of 35 years, Robyn Ladiner Elder; Robyn's children Bobby Elder and Shauna Slaybaugh, whom he loved deeply; his daughter Raquel Macarthy; granddaughter Courtney Peters; grandson Cody Pinti, great grandson Owen Pinti. William is also survived by siblings: Katherine Washington, Mary Donna McKinney, Elayne Macarthy, Laura Macarthy, Franklin Macarthy, John Macarthy, and Douglas Macarthy, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Though he may be gone from our sight, his love, humor, strength, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.
