Thomas Everson Obituary

Thomas Everson Sr., 87, of Lorain passed away peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Amherst Manor Hospice Care following a brief illness. He was born on November 24, 1934, in Newbern, Alabama, to the union of Mary Frances Taylor and Arch Everson. He came to Lorain, Ohio in 1953, where he met and married his lifelong soulmate Elsie Samuel, with whom he had four beautiful children. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family.

Tom retired from U.S. Steel after working 35 years. After retirement, he took the leisurely approach and went back to work at the Steel Mill part-time, before finally deciding to sit at home and chill.

Tom will be sadly missed by those whose lives he impacted during his 87 years of life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 67 years, Elsie; his daughters Tina Everson and Liz Everson both of Lorain; grandchildren: Travis Everson, Kendal Everson, and Lakisha James; great-grandson Zayvion Everson; a sister Leola Houston of Alabama, and a host of loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Jr in 2018, his daughter Phyllis in 2022, brother-in-law Howard Houston, his birth-mother Mary Frances Taylor in 2012, and the mother who raised him, Lizzie Cross.

Life in the Everson Family will eventually get better but will never be the same without our “Tom”.
You may be gone from our lives…. but never from our hearts.
