Tanisha Michele Garrett (nee Jackson)

Tanisha Michele Garrett (nee Jackson) departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father on July 1, 2023. Tanisha was born in Lorain, OH on June 7, 1982, to Greg Thomas and Tammie Jackson.

Tanisha was known for her larger-than-life personality and bold and unapologetic fashion sense. She was a fearless defender of those she loved, including her five children and countless children who she positively impacted in her career as a childcare specialist. Affectionately known as “Ms. Tanisha” and “Ms. Nisha” by her childcare children, Tanisha dedicated her life to shaping the growing minds of all kiddos that crossed her path.

She will be sorely missed by her children Amara, Aspyn, Arizona, Aria, and Atlas, mother Tammie Jackson, siblings Tamra Jackson, Melissa Wilson-Driver (Rick), Terrell Jackson, Tawana Jackson, Greg Thomas (Brenda) and Gevonte Thomas, a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and other loved ones including loyal longtime friends Ashley Leighty, Shanaya Johnson, Juan Diaz, Renee Carlton-Berry, Sunny Gilmore, and Tiffany Nieves. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Garrett, father, Greg Thomas, maternal grandparents Joe Adams and Nettie Mae Jackson, paternal grandparents Ellis and Elizabeth Thomas and a special cousin, Lester J. White, Jr.

A service of love will be held on Saturday July 15, 2023, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 614 W. River Rd. N., Elyria OH 44035 with Pastor Calvin Currie officiating. Viewing 12:00pm-1:00pm and Celebration of Life at 1:00pm.
