Superintendent Edward Jones Jr.

Supt Edward Jones Jr. 79 died peacefully at his home on Wednesday January 5, 2022.  He was born July 4, 1942 in Foot Mississippi, the second oldest of four children to Edward and Mable Jones.

He was a dedicated employee of General Motors and after 35 years. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost around 1967, served as a deacon in his local church for five years then received the call to the Ministry in 1968.  Edward began serving as such in 1973, shepherding the former St. Peter Pentecostal Church of God. Pastor Jones joined St. Peter to the Church of God in Christ under Robert L. Chapman in 1975.  He has served in leadership under several jurisdictional and national capacities for the Church of God in Christ as well as the local church community.  He was a Chairman of the Pastors and Elders Council, President of Lorain Ministry Alliance, VP of COGIC/Pentecostal Alliance (Under Bishop F. E. Perry), COGIC International Finance Marshall, Security for COGIC International Task Force, and Chairman for Elyria Ministry Alliance Scholarship.

He is survived by his children, Helen Jones-Wright, Carolyn Jones, Tony Jackson, brothers in love, Freddie (Doris) Nelson of Elyria, James Nelson of Lorain, Sister’s in love, Alma Jean (Harold) Rainy of Dayton, Ohio, Nancy Morgan of Elyria, Ohio, Linda (Van) Lockett of Mississippi and Patricia (Nathanial) Short, 9 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, Godson Brandon Nelson, God-Daughter Paquita Williams, Special Son in the Gospel Pastor Barry Dunn a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Supt Edward Jones Jr. was preceded in death by the love of his life Blondean Nelson-Jones, parents Mable L. Jackson and Edward Jones Sr., brothers Elton Jerry Jones, Sylvester Jones, Sisters Ora Lee Norman and Patricia Jones

Thursday viewing will be held 6pm to 8pm

Friday viewing will be 10a-11a, Followed by his Celebration of Life at 11am

Burial to be held at Brookdale Cemetery 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd, Elyria, OH.

Bishop C L Kimbrough SR, Jurisdictional Prelate will be doing the honors of service.
