Shawn Kendall Cleveland, affectionately known as “Man-Man," transitioned to heaven on Wednesday September 27, 2023. He was born June 12, 1966, in Dennison, Ohio to the late Henry “Kenny” Cleveland and Sally Thorn Whitfield. Shawn lived most of his life in Lorain, Ohio.
Shawn was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He became a missionary and lived for some time in Piedras Negras, Mexico. In 2019, Shawn became the founder of the Human Trafficking Collaboration. He had a heart for helping those who were victims of human trafficking. Shawn worked for the Gathering Hope House & Sam’s Club for many years. Shawn enjoyed talking about God, reading comic books, watching Marvel movies, and collecting coins. Shawn was also a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He leaves to cherish his legacy, mother; Sally Whitfield of Virginia, sisters; Darlene (Tony) Sutton-Bey of Texas, Tanya Cleveland-Williams, and Renee Cleveland Harris both of Virginia, Jonnita Johnson and Tina (Tim) Allgood both of Ohio. Brothers; Terry Cleveland of California, Gary Monticue of New York, Johnathan Whitfield Sr. of Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father Henry “Kenny” Cleveland, stepfather; John “Sam” Whitfield, and his grandparents, along with aunts and uncles.
There will be a viewing at 10am with a celebration of life to begin at 12pm on Thursday October 5th, 2023, located at House of Praise International Church 4321 Elyria Ave. Lorain, OH 44055.
Eulogist will be Pastor Mark Hebebrand.
