Roshad Brent Obituary

Roshad D. Brent, 31, left us and gained his wings unexpectedly at his home in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, June 8, 2020. Born August 27, 1988 in Cleveland Ohio, he was the first-born son to Tina Brent. Roshad graduated in 2006 from Oberlin Senior High School and attended Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio. Before furthering his studies at Columbus State, he was employed at the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio/Lorain County for several summers assisting and mentoring youth of all ages. Roshad attended Mayes Community Temple Church in Marion, Ohio.

As a child, Roshad had the wisdom of laughter and he carried that wisdom throughout his life. He could make you laugh without putting any effort into whatever it was that he was doing or saying. He loved to sing and dance and in his alone time, he was passionate about writing and sharing his poetry. “Shoddy Pooh” to those that knew him best was a very giving person. If he had it, you had it! He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, award winning impersonations, famous fried chicken, and facebook posts that would leave you laughing for hours. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Roshad was preceded in death by his loving and devoted maternal grandmother, Sandra Brent; caring and supportive maternal great-grandparents, Fred and Odessa Thomas; his precious aunt, Sally Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Tina and step-father, Tramaine Petty of Columbus; siblings: Vincent White of Youngstown, Ohio; Terrill White of Columbus, Ohio and Damonte White of Mansfield, Ohio; step-sister, Nicolya Grigsby of Westerville, Ohio; a special aunt, Anetra Brent of Elyria, Ohio along with uncles, Edward Brent, Dwight Brent, Terrill Bates, and Ceasar Bates; maternal grandfather, Booker T. Brent of Mississippi; godmother, Deborah Cannon of Oberlin, Ohio. Roshad will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, countless relatives, and close friends.

Due to COVID19 precautions, please wear masks at the graveside service which will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Westwood Cemetery at 12 noon. Bishop Laurence E. Nevels, Sr., pastor of Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Oberlin will officiate. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later time. Repast for family and friends will be at the Masonic Temple (corner of S. Pleasant & E. Vine Sts), Oberlin, Ohio immediately following graveside service.
