Obituary

 

Roger Dale Jackson 72, transitioned to his heavenly rest on Sunday, December 13, 2020 after a brief illness.  Roger was born in Lebanon Tennessee. After his graduation in 1966 he moved to Elyria, Ohio. Roger was employed by US Steel for 35 years, after retirement he continued to work at All Pro as a truck driver and most recently Oberlin Golf Course

Roger was an avid collector of Old School R & B music. Roger was a faithful member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing with the male chorus. Roger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories, His loving wife of 41 years Sara Carolyn Jackson (nee Mitchell), Children Jocelyn Jackson, Rochelle Jackson, Calvin O’Dell, and Darius Jackson, Sisters Sherry Jackson Elyria, Ohio, Joyce Sykes (Larry) of Yonkers NY. Diane Whitfield (Daryl) Hendersonville, Tenn. Brothers Gary Jackson, Mark Jackson, Reggie Jackson, Chris Macadoo, Michael Bryant all of Tennessee.

He also leaves behind a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, Father William C. Bryant, Mother Elizabeth Gaines, Sister Denise Buchannon, and Brother Johnny Gaines.

A walk through public viewing  will be held Friday December 18, 2020 at Mt, Zion Missionary Baptist Church 632 West River Rd, Elyria, Ohio at 10:00 A.M. until 11 A.M. Pastor Calvin Currie will officiate a private family service  at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at New Russia Township Cemetery. Funeral services and arrangements entrusted to Carter Funeral Home Elyria, Ohio. Social distancing, COVID-19 practice and wearing of a mask are required. No repass will be observed at this time.
