Roberta Lynn Barnett

Roberta “Lynn” Barnett (Grissom) age 58 passed away Saturday April 30th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Roberta was born December 12, 1963, in Albany New York abs was raised in Elyria Ohio graduating from Elyria West and joining the United States Army in 1982. During her time in the military, she earned various awards including the army achievement medal, national service medal and the national defense medal, serving a total of 10 years, following this she became an environmental specialist for the government until she retired in 2021. Roberta has a passion for traveling, music and furthering her education, graduating with her Masters in 2021. 

She is survived by her daughter LaToya M Champe of Lorain Ohio, Justin Barnett (Alicia) of Atlanta Georgia and Brandon Barnett of Battle Creek Michigan. Mother Shirley Grissom, birth mother Lotrete Hunter, brothers Michael Grissom (Michelle) and LC Grissom Jr (Anita) and a sister Volinda, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild along with a host of cousin's nieces and nephews. 

She is proceeded in death by her father L.C. Grissom and sister Zina Butler, she will be missed dearly by many. 

Her family will welcome visitors to attend service on Saturday May 14th, 2022, at 11:00am until 12:00pm at Carter Funeral Home 127 Bridge St. Elyria, OH 44035. Officiating Rev Dr. Carl P. Small.
