Richard (Dickie) Johnson Sr.

Richard (Dickie) Johnson, Sr., 80, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away after a sudden illness on February 9, 2020.

He attended Oberlin High School and served in the United States Air Force. He lived in Elyria most of his life while spending retirement years in Pittsburgh, PA with family and friends later returning to Elyria. He worked at Harshaw Chemical as a chemical mixer. He loved carpentry and building which led to the development of his own small business.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching football. He was an avid historian, loved to travel, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son Richard L. Johnson, Jr., of Akron, Ohio; and daughter, Shonia Russelle, of Mason, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Mae Burkes, and father Ernest Johnson; and grandparents, Charles and Edna Mae Gray.

Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 9:00am until time of service at 11:00a.m., for a “Celebration of Life" at New Way Life Ministries 1510 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Lorain, Ohio.
