Renee Louise Nelson of Elyria, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at her home Saturday, June 15, 2024.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio July 11, 1956, to Charles and Beatrice Nelson and moved to Elyria in her teens. Renee is a proud graduate of Elyria High School.
She worked as a customer service representative at Teletech and in various factories throughout her lifetime. One of her greatest passions was spending quality time with her grandchildren. She was an avid lover and teacher of line dancing and enjoyed grooving to the melodious sounds of old school music. Renee was Daddy's girl and picked up one of Chuck's most notable talents of being a fabulous chef. She was very family-oriented, and her hospitability was often displayed through allowing family and friends to stay with her periodically; her door was always open. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, travelling, and watching old television shows, along with game and crime shows. She was a loyal fan of the Obama's and enjoyed discussing politics and African American social issues. She often purchased Obama memorabilia to express her affinity. Renee was very business minded and spoke highly of investing money and contributing to a 401K. Her penmanship was impeccable, and she was a staunch advocate for equity within black communities. On many occasions, she wrote the Chronicle Telegram to challenge the inaccuracy of published articles which ultimately led to retractions. If you knew Renee, you knew she shot straight from the hip and when in her presence you were guaranteed to have a funky good time.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior in November 2007. Renee is survived by her children, Simone Nelson and Anthony Kimble, both of Elyria; grandchildren, Sariyah Fisher and Avayah McCall; siblings, Benita Nelson, Rita Nelson, Algie Nelson, Vanessa Nelson, Debra Nelson, Helen (Irwin) Noel, and Yvette (Kevin) Miller; and half-siblings, Regina Wright, and Eric (Angela) Wright.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Antoinette Kimble; father, Charles Nelson; mother, Beatrice Nelson; grandson, Sariel McCall; and siblings, Jacqueline Price, Tyrone Nelson, Charles Nelson Jr., Patrick Nelson, Kent Nelson, Tambria Wright, Tanya Douglass, Sharon Wright, Ronald Wright, Michelle Wright, and Dwayne Henson. Also proceeded in death by Patricia Jackson.
She leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her best friend was Cathy Taylor.
