Phyllis Grant( 70), lifelong resident of Elyria OH; 1968 graduate of Elyria High School, passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 7, 2020.
Phyllis was a lifelong member of Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church of Elyria, A lifelong bowler, and lead singer in the hometown band "Capture”. To those who knew her best, she was an avid collector of all things “Betty Boop"
She is survived by her childhood sweetheart; reunited in 1993, her husband of 24 years, James Grant; sons, Edmund (Annette ) Kendale Bowens of Elyria OH; Clenophus, aka "Cleo" (Tawana L) Bowens Jr. Of Columbus OH;Toriano (Teresa O.) Adarryl Bowens Sr. of Cincinnati OH; daughter, Doletha (Herbert C.)Gwendolyn Cornwell of Lorain OH; step sons; James (Serin) Xcipio Grant of California; Shawn Grant;Stepdaughters; Kim (Andy) Stewart of Lorain; Jill Foster (Nee Grant) of Lorain; sisters; Eileen (Robert) Mahoney of Elyria; Linda Ewing of Elyria; Betty Bohannon of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers; Daud Abdur (Kaia) Rasheed of Cleveland OH; Patrick (Wyonna) Emerson Terry of Alaska; lifelong best friend Beverly Cannon, 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; Lillie B. Cook (Nee Duvall); father William Englon Marshall-Terry; grandson, Eddie Duane Thomas-Bowens; brothers,; William Englon Terry, Henry Terry, and Richard Terry; and sister Gertrude Morrissey. Viewing will be held at Gods Believers in Christ; 520 West 22nd St.,Lorain OH, 44052. A wake will be on Tuesday,October 13, 2020 from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm., Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. Burial at Resthaven, Avon. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, you are required to wear a MASK and Social Distancing is a must.
