Pearlean Smith Bohannon
Pearlean Bohannan, (79) of Lorain, Ohio, departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Fairview Hospital.
Pearlean affectionately known as Pearl was born on April 15,1945 in Monticello, Mississippi to the late Roosevelt and Elvira Smith. Pearl was educated in the Lawrence County, Mississippi school district and graduated from Clearview high school in Lorain, Ohio.
Pearl accepted Christ at a young age and attended services with her family at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She moved to Lorain, Ohio at the age of 16 to babysit for her oldest sister Verneyce and to be with many of her siblings who had already moved there. She joined Friendship Baptist church and was a member for over 60 years, where she was also a member of the Deaconess Board.
Pearl loved to play bingo, bowling, dancing and sitting in her garage. But most of all she loved to be around her family. She never met a stranger, she loved life.
Pearlean was employed at Lorain Products until her retirement.
Pearlean had 11 siblings. Ten of which preceded her in death. R.J. Smith, Roosevelt Smith Jr, Irene Starks, Verneyce Ross, Ralph Smith Sr., Eddie Smith, Lysander (Sam) Smith, Doris Ann Jackson, Jessie Smith, Myrtis Haynes. Also preceding her in death was her baby boy, Sherman McShepard, great granddaughter Joh’nae and great grandson Talon.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memory, Norman Bohannon Sr., husband of 49 years. Her four children, Billy McShepard, Anthony (Tony) McShepard, Twyla McShepard and Norman Bohannon Jr ( Melanie) all of Lorain, Ohio. She also leaves her beloved sister Mabel McCall of Avon, Ohio. She was blessed with a very large family and leaves 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great -great granddaughter to cherish her memory.
There are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all always hold her near and dear to their hearts.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 27th, at Friendship Baptist Church, 2160 Reeves Ave, Lorain. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am with services following at 11:00 am. Pastor John R Jackson will officiate
