A Life of Service
Sis. Patricia O. Shores
September 9, 1949, The Lord Jesus Christ graced earth with the presence of Sister Patricia O. Shores. Born to mother, Mattie L. Gaiter, and father, Forest Jennings Sr. Lovingly adopted, nurtured, and raised by Calvin Jones (Dad O), alongside his wife, mother Mattie L. Jones.
When life shifted at the age of eight, Sis. Patricia (her siblings call her Fludy), stepped right in and helped her mother, Mattie L. Jones, with her younger siblings.
Sis. Patricia gave her life to the Lord early in life while attending Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Cowan, Tennessee.
Primary education was at Thurgood Elementary School (Cowan, Tn). Attended Townsand High School, graduating from newly integrated Franklin County High School in 1969. Attended UTC Erlanger School of Nursing where she attained her Registered Nursing License.
Sis. Patricia worked as an RN Franklin Co Hospital (Winchester, TN), University of the South Hospital (Sewanee, TN). Attaining a dual state license as RN In Tennessee and Ohio. She worked at EMH Regional Medical Center (9th floor, float, renal unit). Spending the rest of her working career at Kidney Center of Northeast Ohio working with Dr. Miclat.
July 11,1971 Dec. Earl A. Shores of Sewanee, TN swept Sis. Patricia off her feet in marriage. In this beautiful union three children were born: Ivan, Yvette, and Christophe. Along with bonus children: Anthony Hooper Sr. and Elease Terry.
Always staying busy for many years, she was an active member of the National Association of Negro Business Professional Women’s Club. Also, a member of the Jack & Jill of America Inc. in the Lorain County Chapter from mid 80’s to early 90’s.
In the local church of Original Church of God, Sis. Patricia served in the adult choir, combined choir, church secretary, and wherever she was asked to serve. She also served at the national level as the president of the Original Church of God National Nurses Guild for 3 terms--2003-2015.
1989, Sis. Patricia met her biological father, Forest Jennings Sr, bonus mother, Gertrude Jennings, and siblings who took her and family in as if they were all raised together. This taught Sis. Patricia another dimension of love which made her capacity to love and receive love grow.
Sis Patricia loves the Lord, loves her family, baking, always having her pens and notebooks ready. Sis Shores is the Biblical definition of meekness: virtue described as controlled strength, humility & trust in God, one who has strength of an ox. She says what she means and means what she says, sweet, kind, loving, hardworking, persevering, long – suffering, stood up for what is right, not backing down to anyone or anything, forgiving, loving to be around loved ones. This is just a brief description of this mighty 4’10” Woman of God who touched countless people’s lives.
