CARTER FUNERAL HOME LORAIN – 244-5200 ELYRIA – 322-7788 Odis R. Lovejoy, Sr., 61 of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018 in the University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born and was a lifelong resident of Elyria. Odis was a graduate of Midview High School, class of 1976 where he played varsity football. Odis was a Veteran of the United States Army. He obtained his Journeyman’s Certificate and he was employed at Ridge Tool in Elyria as a tool and die maker, retiring in 2016 after 40 years of service. Odis was a member of the House of Praise in Lorain. He was a former Deacon of Jesus is Lord Church under Pastor Bill Shomo. He worked with Joshua Kids at Church on the North Coast, he was a coach of Little League South. He loved drawing, writing calligraphy, writing poems, fishing, watching television and spending time with his grandchildren. Survived by his loving wife of 40 years Myrtle (Pixie) Lovejoy, daughters ShaLee Lovejoy and Tanika Lovejoy, son, Odis Lovejoy, Jr., 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Sister, Barbara Lovejoy, brothers, Benjamin (Carma) Lovejoy, Richard (Tina) Lovejoy and Melvin (Sigrid) Lovejoy and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by his parents Johnnie Lee and Floncia Lovejoy, sister, Gloria Fenn and brother, Johnnie Ray Lovejoy. Friends may call Monday, July 30, 2018 in the House of Praise, 4321 Elyria Ave, Lorain at 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Pastor Gilbert Silva will officiate.
