Mary Johnson Obituary

Mary “Maybell” Johnson passed peacefully on February 2nd, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Center in Lorain, OH.

She lived to see 82 years, born June 4, 1939, to Ada Donald and Moses Edwards. She was employed at General Motors for 22 years. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She loved going to Sunday Service, fishing, cooking for her family, and gambling.

She will be sadly missed by daughters Shirley (Bobby) Jenkins of Houston, TX, and Katrina Gates of Kentucky, Charlene Johnson, Katherine Redding, Elsie Johnson, Mary (Arthur) Taylor, and Patricia McKinley all of Sandusky. She will also be remembered by her sons William Edwards of Columbus, OH, Allen Nolan of North Carolina, and Robert Noble of Chicago, Illinois;.20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and long-time friend, Janelle McGee.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Rose Sampson of Elyria; Dessie Donald-Small of Cape Coral, Florida; and brother, John Gregory Donald of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson; mother, Ada Donald; father, Moses Edwards; sisters, Georgia Salter and Nettie Wright; and brother, John Edwards.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday February 9, 2022, 10:00 am until 11:00 am, services following at 11:00 am at Mt Zion Baptist Church 614 W River Rd N, Elyria Oh, 44035. officiate Pastor Curry, Interment at Brookdale Cemetery
