Lola Bell Capers

Lola Bell Capers, beloved mother, grandmother and sister peacefully passed away on February 27,2023 at the age of 91, after a long illness. Lola was born January19,1932 in Selma, AL to Henry and Annie Harris. She moved to Oberlin, Ohio in 1952 along with her husband of 51 years D.W. Capers Sr.  Together they were blessed with 10 children: 6 sons and 4 daughters. They later moved to Elyria, Ohio where she lived for many years. 

At the time of her passing, Lola resided in Maple Heights, Ohio with her daughter Alberta "Marie" in close proximity. 

Lola worked in food services at Oberlin College, where she retired after 26 years of service.  She was an amazing cook who also loved to fish, sew, knit and spend time with her large family.

Lola is survived by her children; Alfred Capers (Dawn) of Washington, Arthur Capers (Zanna) and Barbara Capers of Florida, Bob Capers (Brenda) of Arizona, Dorothy Crawley, Albert Capers, and Alberta Gibson (Tyrone) all of Ohio, and Sandra Woolfolk of Georgia; 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren,32 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lola was proceeded in death by her husband D.W. Capers Sr; sons Henry Capers and D.W. Capers Jr.; brother, Wiley Harris, grandchildren; Raymond Smith, Danielle Capers, Crystal Capers, Darius Capers, Erin Capers and Jimmy Holland Jr.

Services will be held on Friday March 10th,2023, viewing at 10am celebration of life following at 11am at Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, Oh 44035.
