Lillie Taylor (Valentine) Obituary

Lillie Ruth Taylor (Valentine) 77 of Lorain, passed away on 21, December 2023, surrounded by loving members of her family. 

She was born on October 10, 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama, and moved to Ohio at the age of 8 where she attended schools in Warren, OH, and Elyria, OH.  She moved to Lorain, OH around the age of 18 and held jobs such as at the Steel Mill, as a home care nurse, at Autumn Aegis Nursing home, and later ran her own daycare.  Lillie accepted Jesus Christ at a young and was a longstanding faithful member and Associate Minister at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed teaching, preaching, and sharing the gospel and if you couldn’t find her at Church, you could find her at Walmart or the Dollar Store.  The family loved her sweet potato pies and stuffing and would ask her to make them at family dinners and events.

Lillie leaves behind to mourn her loss her Sons: William “Junior” Curry of Lorain, Kevin Curry (Michele) of Stafford, VA, John Curry (Cleo) of Smyrna, TN; Hkein “Man” Cavin (Kristen) of Elyria, OH; 23 grandchildren, Shontea “Teea” Ford (“June”) whom she raised, Maurice “Reecie” Johnson, Julia “Treece” Johnson, Ashley Curry, William Curry III, Caleb Perry, Brittaney Curry, Samuel “Manny” Curry, Makayla Curry, Maleea Curry, Sharikah Curry, Kevin “Chevy” Curry II, Danielle “Danny” Tucker (Peter), Sydney Curry, John Curry II, Alindzia “Lindzy” Frazier (Justin), Malik Curry, Kaivon Curry, Jmarrion “Mar-Mar” Curry, Javonte Curry, Hakeem “Man-Man” Cavin Jr., Courtney Cavin, Hassani Tucker, Danah Ewing, and Aiyanna ”Yaya” Cavin; 31 great-grandchildren; her Brother Ernest Valentine of Elyria; her twin niece Cassandra “Cassie”; her best friend for over 70 years Veronica Austin of Brunswick, OH; the entire Shiloh family and a host of other family members. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Dr. Samuel “Sam” Taylor, her daughter Deborah Valentine-Southerland, her mother Julia Mae Valentine, her father Ivory Huston Valentine, her brother James Valentine, her Sister Corrine Armstrong, and her besties and “Dollar Store Road dogs”, Patricia “Pat” Curry and Elvia “Elvy” Gamble. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carter Funeral Home, Lorain, OH and the services will be held Saturday December 30th, 2023, at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3900 Clifton Ave, Lorain, OH 44055 with viewing starting at 9:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM.
