Levvy Witherspoon

Unexpectedly After fulfilling his purpose here on Earth, on March 12, 2022, God seen fit to call Levvy Witherspoon home to his eternal resting place.  

Levvy “Spoon” Witherspoon was born March 23, 1966, in Oberlin, Ohio. Born to the Loving Union of Willie and Dale (nee Witt) Witherspoon. Levvy was the Baby Boy of 10 Brothers and Sisters. 

Levvy gained knowledge and confessed a belief in Christ early in age. Growing up he attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oberlin Ohio, where his Mother was an active and life-long member.  

During his youth Levvy attended Oberlin City Schools for most of his schooling, where he was an outstanding Basketball and Baseball Player receiving many Varsity Letters, Awards, and Scholarships. After Graduating from Oberlin Senior High School in 1984, Levvy went on to further his Education at The Virginia Tech. Upon returning home from College Levvy rerouted and moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he resided for the last 30 years. Here Levvy took on the responsibility of being an Apartment Manager, Store Manager, as well as Security to Local Establishments. During Levvy’s spare time he enjoyed writing, playing cards, reading and spending time with family and friends. To know Spoon was to know a Gentle Giant who would go above and beyond to make sure everyone he loved was safe and well taken care of. Levvy had a Genuine Love, and Compassion for others that will forever be unmatched and never forgotten. 

Levvy Leaves to Celebrate his Life and Cherish his memory, Brothers: William Witt of Tucson, Arizona; Mark Arnold of Columbus, Ohio and James Arnold of Lorain, Ohio. Sisters: Patricia (nee Williams) Tillman, Ruby (nee Witherspoon) Ellington, Willie-May (nee Witt) Austin all of Elyria, Ohio. Regina Arnold of Lorain, Ohio and Stacy Gilliam-Shanklin of Cleveland, Ohio. Many Nieces and Nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

 Levvy was proceeded in Death by his Parents Willie H. and Dale (nee Witt) Witherspoon, Brother Steven Witherspoon; Infant Sister Baby Girl Witherspoon, Paternal Grand-Parents Henrietta Phillips, and Levvy Witherspoon; and Maternal Grandparent's Ransom and Alva Neva Witt. 

Family and Friends will be received on Friday April 15, 2022, at Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St, Elyria Ohio 44035. Walk through hours are 10am-11am and the Celebration of Life will begin immediately after. Bishop Steve Robinson will officiate. Mask During Services are required. 

Levvy will be laid to his physical resting place near his Parents and Brother at Westwood Cemetery 429 Morgan St, Oberlin, Ohio 44074. Repast Will be held at 3:30 pm at Golden Corral 1519 W River St, Elyria, Ohio 44035
