Leon Caver, 82 of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2020 in the UH Elyria Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland Ohio, but lived in Oberlin/Elyria area since 1973.
Mr. Caver was a former Police officer in Cuyahoga and Lorain County and he was in the US Army from 1953 – 1956. Mr. Caver was an Elder at Point of Grace Church and head of security. Mr. Caver enjoyed basketball, reading, world events and praying for the sick and shut in.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, David (Deseree) Caver and Lawrence Brown, both of Elyria, OH, brothers Jesse Caver, Raymond Caver, Famous Caver, Larry Caver, all of Cleveland, OH, sisters Grace Jackson, Regina Bowen, both of Cleveland, OH, 12 Grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by wife, Nellie Caver, father, Famous Caver, mother, Corlida Shepherd, daughter, Cynthia Johnson, son, Robert Brown, and granddaughter, Corin Jones.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 11:00 until time of service at 11:30 am in the Carter Funeral Chapel, 127 W. Bridge St, Elyria. Pastor Vanessa Young will be the Eulogist. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the funeral home will be following specific guidelines to ensure the safety of all visitors. We encourage all visitors to wear face covering. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
