Larry Darnell Saulsberry better preferred as ‘Darnell’, age 60 was born on June 8th,1963, in Memphis, Tennessee, he was a son of seven siblings of his mother Willie Mae Reed. His father was Jeff Saulsberry.
He moved to Lorain in his early teens, he graduated from Admiral King High School. He was surrounded by so much love from family, friends and loved ones. He was an amazing and dedicated father to his daughters Alexis (Shawn) Davis, Es’Maria Hampton, Autumn, Amber, Aiyja & Alanna Strickland. He was the best grandfather to his 4 grandchildren Moses, Migo, Maleah Davis, and Nyéla Gibbons.
He departed this life on Wednesday August 9th, 2023, following cardiac arrest. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Mae Reed and Jeff Saulsberry, his ex-wife Dorothea Hill, his brother Daniel Saulsberry, his sisters Shirley Hopkins, Bettye Johnson, his nephew Sean Adams, and his niece Denise Smith.
He was a hardworking man, a phenomenal father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He always kept his faith in the Lord, he was true to his word with everything he did in his life. He always reminded anyone he was surrounded by with the best real-life advice and instilled his inspiration and insight on how much we have to cherish this life that we have while we’re here, and to be strong. He will be truly missed.
He worked 20+ years in the transportation business/taxi, he enjoyed playing and watching basketball and football, he loved cookouts, playing his daily lottery, going to the park, cooking & eating; soul food was his favorite, listening to his hip-hop, rap, and some old school soul music.
He leaves to cherish his memories of his parents, ex-wife, daughters, grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and everyone who loved and respected him.
The funeral service will be at 10am Friday August 18th,2023, at Carter’s Funeral Home Chapel,3001 Elyria Ave, Lorain, OH 44055.
