Celebrating the Life of Lillie Mae Mahone
Lillie Mae Mahone, 80, of Elyria, Ohio, peacefully departed her earthly dwelling to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on October 18, 1945, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Lillie was the cherished daughter of Daniel and Carlee Davis. In 1955, she relocated to Elyria, Ohio, where she beautifully wove a life grounded in deep faith, enduring love, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Lillie now rejoices in eternal peace, reunited in heavenly glory with her parents and beloved siblings.
A woman of compassion and intelligence, Lillie graduated from Lorain County Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Social Work. She dedicated her professional life to nurturing the minds and hearts of children at Elyria Head Start, where she worked faithfully until her well-deserved retirement.
Lillie’s life was a testament to joy and service. She found immense fulfillment in her faith and praising God. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking and baking. Yet, above all else, her greatest earthly joy was the time she spent surrounded by her family. Her home was a sanctuary of laughter, warmth, and unconditional acceptance.
Lillie’s profound legacy of love, gratitude, and appreciation will be forever cherished by her devoted husband of 45 years, Leroy Mahone. Her spirit lives on through her beloved son, Gregory Shannon. She also built a beatifically blended family for her loving daughters, Tammy Davis, Alunda Riggins, Latonya Mahone, and Carla Moore and sons James (Lisa) Mahone, and Michael Mahone. She is also survived by her dear brother, Earl Cummings; her cherished, lifelong friend, Lucy Smallwood; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death and is now embracing her parents, Daniel and Carlee Davis; her beloved daughter, Lisa Perkins; her sisters, Mary Metcalf, Georgia Mae Johnson, Gloria Stevens, Daniella Riggins, and Veronica Davis; and her brothers, Lee Davis, Charles Davis, George Davis, and Joe Davis.
Lillie will be deeply missed, but the profound impact of her life will never fade. Her luminous heart, abundant love, and radiant smile will live on eternally through those who were blessed to know her. Her memory remains a constant source of comfort, strength, and inspiration to all she left behind.
There will be a Visitation held on Wednesday July 15, 2026, at 11am with a Celebration of Life to follow at noon. Services will be located at New Bethel P.B.C. 3880 Dayton Ave Lorain, OH.
