Kay Frances Hicks

Kay Frances Hicks transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home on March 5, 2025. She was born in Decherd, Tennessee on May 10, 1943, to Eugene and Orene Northcutt. The family moved to Elyria when she was very young. She attended Elyria City Schools and graduated from Elyria High School in 1961. Soon after, she began working for A&P where she worked for years. Then she became a manager at Apples where she continued in the grocery industry until retirement.

In 1973, Kay married Walter Hicks in holy matrimony. As a result of this union, a daughter was born, named Yaika. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved her family deeply and was very thoughtful and generous, never forgetting birthdays or Christmas gifts. 

Kay committed her life to the Lord from a very early age. She was a faithful member of Lake Avenue and Walnut Church of Christ for many years.

Kay leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Yaika Hicks; grandson, William A. Brown III (Bill); granddaughter, Yaminah Brown; granddaughter, Yaira Brown; brother, Paul Northcutt, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by Walter Hicks, her husband; Eugene Northcutt, her father; Orene Northcutt, her mother; William Northcutt, her brother; and Henrietta France her sister.

The viewing for Kay Frances Hicks will be March 14, 2025, at 10:00 am at Lake and Walnut Church of Christ, 1101 Lake Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, and burial will follow the service at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
