Johnny Springfield Obituary

Johnny L Springfield, 81 of Elyria Ohio went home to be with the Lord on April 03, 2022. Johnny was born on May 01, 1940, to the late James and Sallie Springfield in Ripley Tennessee. He graduated from Lauderdale High school, he excelled in basketball where he then took his talents, starting at Lane College, Jackson Tennessee. He was a long-standing member of the Jones Chapel AME Church in Elyria, Ohio where he held the position of trustee and was a member of the Usher board. You could always find Johnny sitting in the back pew of the church overseeing the ushers. Johnny retired from the Ford Motor Company as a welder. After retiring from the Ford Motor Company, he started his own company (F&J Distributors) doing catalog sales to city governments and other businesses within Ohio. Johnny joined the Masons in 1989. A year later he joined Al’lim Temple #223/ Sedona lodge 93 and became Potentate in 1994. He was also a member of the Bezaleel Consistory. He was tremendously engaged in community activities and services that helped him to become the person we all know and love.  

 Johnny is survived by his Brother Roy Springfield, and Sister Joyce Chavers and life partner Pam Oliver (from we love you Pam for all you did) his 3 Children Shaun (Brian) Drue, Tracey (Dale) Harris and Son John Cook. 5 Grandchildren Calvin (Jessica) Robinson Bradley Springfield, Estaban Gutierrez, Cheyenne Gutierrez, Jamaris Cook, Isaiah Cook, and Jordyn Fougerousse. Great Grandchildren: Alexandra, Aaron, Lucas, and Navier Fairley.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sally Springfield: Siblings Berdie Mae Barbee, Valley Springfield, William Vale, Joe Springfield, Charlotte Dugon, James “buddy” Springfield and Geraldine Moody. 

Walk-Thru service will be held Friday March 8th, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Funeral service will be Saturday March 9th, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Jones Chapel AME 343 17TH St. Elyria Ohio 44035.
