Obituary

Johnny L Cross, known as (COLTRANE) to his close friends and family, was born on May 20th,1948, in Gary, Indiana to Luthor and Charlie Mae Cross and he left us peacefully on April 23rd, 2023, in Elyria, OH.

He attended Calumet High School, and he enlisted in the US Army in 1968 as an Artillery soldier, moving on to become an Army Ranger sniper and served in Vietnam and Korea Wars receiving an honorable discharge from the service.

He worked for US Steel for 10 years and dedicated his life to assisting the community by driving a city bus for an additional six years. His hobbies included Motown music, pool, traveling, food, family and having good conversation with friends.

He is survived by his wife Janie Mae Cross, two sons Johnny C. and Quenton Cross and grandchildren: Dayshia, Alexander, Abriella Cross, Shaterra, Tiera, Damarco Tillman, Stephon Love and Elizabeth Eisom.

Johnny is preceded in death by his mother and father Charlie Mae and Luthor Cross.

Friends and family may visit on Saturday April 29th, 2023, at Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, Ohio 44035 at 11am with a celebration of life to begin at 12 noon.
