Jerome Wicker Sr. passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2023, in Lorain, Ohio. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Catherine Dawson and John Wicker on September 14, 1944.
Upon Jerome graduating from Steubenville Big Red High School, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, where he would not only fight for his country but also get wounded in combat, then get issued a Purple Heart Medal. Jerome loved the Marines and everything it stands for.
After coming home from war, Jerome fell in love with his high school classmate Marsha Montgomery and married her on October 5, 1968.
Jerome was an avid sports fan, many of you may remember seeing him jogging down the street or when the weather was bad out you might catch him in the living room running in place, he loved all sports and cheered for all the Ohio teams from the Browns to the Cavaliers. And as the world progressed, he got into gaming and his favorite game was Waterfalls.
Left to cherish his memory, daughter Tracy L. Anthony (Cedric Anthony) of Houston, Texas and son Jerome Wicker Jr. ( Kimberly Wicker) of Ocala, Florida. Brothers Thomas J. Williams Jr. A.K.A Sonny (Sara Williams) of Stone Mountain Georgia. Calvin Wicker of Steubenville, Ohio sisters Linda Wicker and Lisa Willams also of Steubenville, Ohio and little brother Joe Johnson of Steubenville, Ohio. Grandchildren Jerome Wicker lll, Isaiah Wicker, Julissa Younkin, Denzell West, Malik Wicker, Isaac Triplett, and Katherine Wicker along with a host of other relatives.
Jerome was preceded in death by his loving wife Marsha Wicker, his mother Catherine Dawson-Johnson, Father John Wicker, Sister Charlene Reed, Brothers Alvin Wicker, and Robert Wicker.
Jerome will surely be missed for his quick witty humor and funny sayings.
Services for Jerome Wicker Sr. will be held on Wednesday January 11th,2023 at Carter Funeral Home located at 3001 Elyria Ave. Lorain, Ohio 44055, viewing at 10am and services following at 11am.
