Jenell O McGhee

Jenell O. McGhee, former owner of Red Fox Lounge in Elyria, OH, transitioned from earth to glory on Thursday, April 10. 2025, at Sprenger Health Care Autumn Aegis Retirement Center in Lorain, OH. She was 86 years old.

Born in Slidell, LA on April 17th, 1938, she and her family moved to Oberlin, OH when she was 10 years old. A go getter from a young age, Jenell would babysit, clean houses, had a paper route, and ran errands to earn money to help take of herself and others. This is how she developed her strong work ethic that she displayed throughout her entire life.

She attended the Oberlin school system, graduating in the class of 1956. While in school, she participated in different activities such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, softball, and Glee Club, Ensemble, Girls Athletic Association (G.A.A.), and home economics. She liked the collaboration, challenge and lasting relationships that were formed from being a part of these opportunities.

After graduation, her worked history includes those of Oberlin Inn, Muller's Products, American Greeting Cards, American Standard, Elyria Memorial Hospital, Fisher Guide and General Motors. She also held a cosmetology license at one time in her life events. Along the road of life, Jenell met, fell in love with, and on August 27th, 1973, married Charles McGhee. This union would last until his passing in 2005.

Jenell leaves to cherish her memory, 5 generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and lifelong friends who helped make her last days bright filled with laughter and remembrance.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents John and Leonteen (DuFrane) Stokes, seven sisters and one brother.

God's Kingdom Worship Center, 423 Washington Ave Lorain, OH 44055, will host the homegoing services. The wake will be on Monday April 21st, 2025, 6p-8p. A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday April 22nd, 2025, at 11am
