Janie Love Cross - Obituary

Janie Love Cross departed this earthly life on December 23, 2023. She lived a full and wonderful life. She was born the third child in a family of nine on April 18,1943 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Within that group of nine siblings, Janie knew how to hold her own. But she was still a quiet spirit that spoke up when things needed to be said.

She was a beloved employee of the Elyria Country Club, Elyria, Ohio for decades. She also was a Home Health Aide and was able to share her compassion and love of others with many who needed it.

Janie adored her family and did all that she could to support them. Her infectious laugh filled a room, and she was an outstanding hostess and cook. 

She married the love of her life, Johnny Cross on September 11, 2003, and together they enjoyed the ups and downs of life. 

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Michael Anthony Love, siblings Margaret Ann Ward, Houston Love Jr. (Laurel), Eddie Dean Love, Alice Simpson (Robert), and Darlene Brown, her grandchildren Demarco Tillman, Tiara Tillman, Shaterra Tillman, Elizabeth Eisom (Ramon Sr.), Stephon Love, many beloved Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces and Nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Cross, mother Maggie Elizabeth Ross Love Sanders, father, Houston Love Sr., son Raymond D. Love, brothers, Leroy Love, Willie Sanders, and Johnnie Sanders, Granddaughter Amber Nicole Love, and a Great Grandchild.

Viewing for the family will be Thursday, January 4th,2024, from 4- 5p.m. Friends can arrive 5-6 p.m. The Funeral will be Friday January 5th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home, 127 W. Bridge Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035
