James H. “Bubbles” Harris Jr. was born March 23, 1949, to the union of James H. Harris Sr., and Bernice (nee Lane) Harris.
He was a graduate of Admiral King High School in Lorain, Ohio. After high school he attended St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Michigan. James also attended Indiana University (Hoosiers) in Terre Haute, Indiana graduating with his bachelor’s degree. James was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1971. He was inducted with Lorain Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986.
James returned home and worked as a Physical Education teacher at Hawthorne Junior High School.
James moved to Columbus, Ohio and was employed with Big Brothers and Big Sisters and he also worked in the Ohio Attorney General’s office with the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Loving to be around and work with people, James became an assistant manager at Men’s Warehouse. He was employed there for 20 years. He also worked for the Xerox Company.
After retiring and moving back to Lorain, James worked as a pole worker for the Ohio Board of Elections. He worked with Habitat for Living to keep himself moving and busy and he also worked at Murray Ridge School.
James was a member of Fairfield Christian Center in Lorain, Ohio for 12 years. He loved gospel singing and hearing the teaching and preaching of the Word of God.
James transitioned from this earthly life to be eternally with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 6, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lane; both parents, James H. Harris Sr., and Bernice (nee Lane) Harris; brothers, Harold and Thomas Harris.
He will truly be missed. He is survived by his sister, Wilma Lee (nee Harris) Jackson of Silver Springs, Maryland; one nephew Isaiah Harris Sr., one great nephew, Isaiah Harris Jr.; two nieces, Imani Harris and Aiyana Harris, all of Lorain, Ohio, and a host of cousins, relatives and close friend and brother in Christ, Bishop Dennis R. Johnson and many more very good friends.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022, 10:00am until 11:00am followed by “The Celebration of Life” at 2002 E 28th St Lorain Oh 44055, Officiating Bishop Dennis Johnson.
