James was born May 8th, 1960, in Elyria, Ohio to Anderson and Susie (Mayneida)Nolen. He was educated in the Elyria City Schools.
James moved to Denver, Colorado and lived there for 25 years working as a Maintenance Engineer for The Best Western Hotels.
James enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, and keeping up with the World News. He was also the author of two poetry books.
James is survived by his brothers: Robert L. Gause of Denver, Co and Bishop James Whitelaw of Detroit, MI, Paul (Addie) Nolen of Lorain, Anderson Nolen Jr. of Lorain, Sisters: Shirley F. Nolen of Elyria and Denese (Donald) Flemmings of Laurel, MD, Aunt Lavada Maben of Elyria, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his parents Anderson and Susie Nolen, sisters: Elnora, Mary, Patricia, and Carrie Jean and brother Eddie.
A viewing will be held on Thursday November 9th, 2023, at 10am with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11am. Services will be held at the Elyria Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, Oh. Eulogy by Bishop James Whitelaw.
