James Grant

James Grant, age 65, of Elyria Received his special invitation into Heaven on February 10th 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Elyria and was well known and loved by many. James was known for his love of music and great sense of humor. James enjoyed playing with his band which included his late wife and lead singer Phyllis Grant who he was married to for 24 years. He is survived by his children Daughter, Kimberly (Andrew) Stewart of Lorain; Daughter, Jill Foster of Lorain; Son, James (Ferin) Grant of sacramento; Son, Shawn Grant of Lorain; Stepson, Clenophus "Cleo" (Twania) Bowens of Columbus; Stepson, Edmund Kendale (Annette) Bowens of Elyria; Stepson, Toriano Adarryl (Teresa) Bowens of Cincinntti; Stepdaughter, Doletha Gwendolyn (Herbert) Cornell of Lorain; Sister, Bertha Mae (Amado) Barry of Elyria; Brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Lawrence of Elyria. Lifelong Best Friends Gary Shores, George Odell, John Rhodes, Willie Taylor. James had 8 grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren, and 35 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded death by his Wife Phyllis Grant who he loved and missed dearly, his Mother Thelma Grant, his Father Scipio Grant, Brother John Lawrence jr., and Step grandson Eddie Dwayne Thomas Bowens.

 Viewing will be held at Carter Funeral Home, 3001 Elyria Ave. Lorain, Oh., on February 19, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Services will follow at 11am. Burial will be at Resthaven in Avon. Flowers and cards can be sent to Carters Funeral Home.
