JASPER HORTON

On Friday, March 24/2023 Jasper Horton Jr. 96 went to be with the Lord at University Hospitals Westlake, Ohio following a lengthy Illness. 

Jasper Horton was born in Opelika Alabama in 1927 and came to Elyria, Ohio in 1945. Mr. Horton was employed as a sheet metal worker for 30 years at American Standard/Tappan and Invacare as a maintenance worker for 20 yrs.

After his retirement, Jasper spent time caring for his wife in a nursing facility before her transition. He helped feed food and drink during the morning, noon, and evening hours. He would never miss a day caring for and comforting his beloved wife.

Jasper Horton is a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he sang in the Starlight Chorus and the Men’s Chorus for many years. 

Jasper also enjoyed bowling, purchasing lottery tickets, and maintaining his home and antique cars. 

Mr. Horton will be sadly missed by his son Robert L Horton, Diane Winbush, Nephew Dan Horton Jr. (Elyria), Moss Hutchinson (Donna Hutchinson) Audrey Young, Mother of (Kaliq) Sister Willie Horton (Chicago), and a host of relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his much-loved Wife of 65 yrs. Rose Lee Horton and Grandson Kaliq H Horton, Brother Dan Horton Sr. Sister, Vera Horton and Brother, Charley Horton, Parents Jasper Horton Sr. and Mother Suzie Horton. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 5th, 2023, at Bethany Baptist Church 334 17th St Elyria, Ohio 44035 at 11am and services beginning at 12 noon. 

Burial will be held at Brookdale cemetery 41600 Oberlin Elyria Rd Elyria, Ohio 44035.
