Herman Benjamin, 65, of Lorain, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on Friday July 1, 2022. He was 1 of 11 children. Herman was born to George and Lula Mae Benjamin on October 18, 1956, in Lorain Ohio.
Herman “the duke” grew up on 29th street and was a graduate of Southview High School, where he loved playing basketball “all conference”, hanging out with friends who were known as “the four horsemen”, and playing in baseball/softball leagues. He joined the US Army where he discovered his culinary skills and love of cooking. After his time in the service, he became a dedicated caregiver for over 20 years. In that time, he grew to establish many great relationships with his residents and co-workers. He loved to fish and could frequently be found at “hot waters” enjoying the day.
Herman Benjamin leaves behind to always cherish his memory, his loving wife Christina Benjamin. His 4 sons Adrian Sankey, Herman Benjamin Jr., Damien Hughes, and Demetrius Benjamin. His 5 daughters; Alexis Benjamin, Felicia Benjamin, Marcy Abed, Joy Benjamin, and Brianna Benjamin. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Francis Adams, Beverly Seymore, Gayle Benjamin, and William Benjamin all from Lorain, Ohio. His 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly.
Herman is preceded in death by his mother Lula Mae Benjamin, Father George Benjamin, Sisters Sheila Benjamin, Rosetta Benjamin, Willie Mae Battle, and Theresa Boykin. Brothers George Benjamin Jr and Simpson Benjamin.
Herman was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, who will be greatly missed. His kindness and positive energy will never be forgotten. Herman’s smile will remain ingrained in the minds of the people he leaves behind.
Please join us for the celebration of life at God Believers in Christ (formerly known as Compassion Baptist church) 520 W 22nd street, Lorain Ohio on Saturday July 9th, 2022. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with the service beginning at 10:00 am. Reverend Otis, Jenkins Officiating.
