Harold M. Jackson-Lewis, age 76, of Elyria passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

Born January 3, 1947, Hughes, Arkansas, Harold was a 1965 graduate of Lorain High School where he was a basketball player and made many lifelong friends. He was also a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Harold began his insurance career in the late 1970s. In 1985, he created a very successful insurance agency in Elyria named Creative Incentive Insurance Network; until he retired in 2009. In 2010, Mr. Jackson started a non-for-profit inmate reentering program. This initiative provided tools and resources to newly released inmates on how to become reacclimated back into society. Because of this program, numerous individuals received helped during their transition.

Harold was a beloved husband to his wife of 55 years, Martha Jackson (nee: McGhee). They settled in Elyria in 1970 where they raised three daughters Tara, Traci and Tasheika (the three T’s). The home was always filled with laughter, jokes, and most importantly, love. Harold was an avid golfer. He was a member of the all black Linksters Golf Club in Lorain. He was also a recipient of various golf awards with this club.

Mr. Jackson was a devoted and faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 60 years, a beloved Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a proud member of the Male Chorus singing group at the church.

Surviving is his wife Martha, of Elyria; three daughters, Tara Jackson (Lorain), Traci A. Patton (Lorain), and Tasheika (Jemar) Johnson (Maple Heights); two sons, Darnell Hawthorne (Lorain) and Seth Charleton (Sandusky); numerous brothers and sisters from Ohio, Arkansas, Florida, Nevada, Mississippi, and West Memphis. He loved and cherished his Grandchildren: Tasha Fairley, Jemar Johnson Jr., Dorian Johnson and Gaige Patton; and three Great Grandchildren: Lei’ajah, Aleiyah and Alise. Harold was preceded in death by his Mother, Gladys Lewis (Arkansas), the Mother, who raised him, Louise Jackson (Ohio) and his Father, Walter Jackson (Ohio).

The family would like to acknowledge Mercy New Life Hospice for all their care and assistance in the final days.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 5-7 pm EST. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 am EST. Both will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 2160 Reeves Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Reverend John Jackson, Pastor, will officiate. Committal service will take place at Brookdale Cemetery, 41600 Oberlin Elyria Road 44035.
