Gwendolyn Middlebrooks Knox passed away in her home on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Born on April 16, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Gwen would live in various places, but would call Lorain, Ohio, home. A faithful Jehovah's Witness, Gwen has been a caregiver most of her life.
She received her nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1970 and began serving as a licensed practical nurse in Buffalo, New York. She welcomed her only child, daughter Tamara Christel Knox, on August 19, 1973, before moving back home to Lorain in 1979. Gwen loved her nursing career.
She served in emergency rooms and daily care before settling into working with elderly patients. Gwen retired in 2008 to care for her ailing mother, Lillie Mae Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Knox, brother Richard Middlebrooks, sister Helen Middlebrooks, mother Lillie Middlebrooks, and father Charles Middlebrooks.
She is survived by her daughter Tamara Knox of Lorain, Ohio.
