Georgia Mae Shaw was born October 23, 1927, in Mantee, Mississippi. She peacefully transitioned from New Life Hospice (Lorain) on January 15, 2022, to join our Lord in Heaven.
She came to Lorain in 1947, married and soon after worked as a domestic/nanny for many years. Upon searching for a home church, she settled on Second Baptist Church of Lorain in 1949.
Georgia Mae was a very caring person who loved animals, Pepsi cola, Rod Stewart, and conversing with friends and family. She displayed a genuine concern for others well-being; was a wealth of practical advice when asked; and always lent a helping hand when she seen the need. Her love and concern for others went as deep as being like a second Mother, Aunt or Grandmother for those blood related or not. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Shaw (Lorain) and bonus son, David & Sharon Brown (Connecticut), Stepsons, General Brown (Lorain), and Donald Gibson (Lorain), Stepdaughter, Shirl Young (Kentucky), Grandchildren, Davina Brown-Garcia (Connecticut), Salena Brown (North Carolina), Lauren Brown (Georgia), Anthony Martin (Georgia), nephew, Pete Chandler (Washington), cousin, Dessie Moore (Cleveland), and numerous other grandchildren and cousins.
Georgia Mae Shaw was preceded in death by her mother, Mazzie Watkins (Mississippi); husband, Ellsworth Shaw (New Jersey); brother, Howard Chandler (Utah); aunt, Essmer Howard (Mississippi); and bonus son, Larry (Darnell) Brown (Kentucky).
