Geon graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland and pursued further education at Case Western Reserve, where he attended one year of police training. He also served in the National Guard Reserve for a brief time.

Geon was a dedicated and hardworking family man. For many years, he worked at Autokiniton in Avon, Ohio, where he retired. Geon was also an avid collector of football and basketball cards, and he kept mementos of all that was meaningful to him.
Geon was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Julia Jones; his brother, Eric Jones; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Porter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 19 years, Ruby Derrico (Nee West); his only daughter, Ashley Jones (Elyria); his sons Geon Derrico Jr. (Cleveland), and Denzel Derrico (Lexington); two grandchildren whom he adored, Kelani Derrico and Landon Geon Jones; his siblings Sharon, Angela (Aaron), Gordon, Lisa (Keith), Darlene (Richard) all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kimberly (Ronald) of Avon, Ohio; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law and love.
Geon’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
