Genevieve James (Kirk)

Genevieve James (Kirk), 73, of Oberlin went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, following a long illness. She was born in Demopolis, Alabama, and lived in Chicago before coming to Ohio in 1989.

                Mrs. James loved helping people. She worked as a Nursing Assistant and worked at various nursing facilities. She was a member of the Original Church of God. She enjoyed singing in the choir, cooking, traveling, and making flower arrangements.

                Mrs. James is survived by sisters: Amy Richardson, and Florence Bowden both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Rosemary (John) Mahone, Pearlie Kirk and Angela (Earnest) McKinney all of Elyria, Jacquelin Kirk, and Veronica Kirk of Oberlin.

She was preceded in death by parents: Woodrow and Lillie Mae Kirk, sister Shirley Kirk and brothers: Woodrow Kirk Jr, Elbert Kirk, and Stoney Kirk Sr, and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at 10am and service at 11am on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, at The Carter Funeral Home in Elyria. 127 West Bridge St. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery. Repass at Second Baptist Church 427 Chapman Lane. Evangelist Angela McKinney will be delivering the eulogy.
