Eunice Davis was born on September 25, 1928 in Abbeville, Alabama, to Johnnie and Lillie (Gilmore) Johnson. Known by many as “Momma”, she departed this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She was 91 years old and the beloved wife of the late Raymond Davis.Soon after coming to Elyria,
Eunice became employed at Wesleyan Village (formerly Elyria Methodist Home) and later retired. She was a Chartered Member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and served on various boards until her health enabled her to do so.
Momma” loved her family and friends and enjoyed sitting on the porch during the summertime, communing with all who stopped over to visit her. She truly was a woman after God’s own heart!
She is survived by her children: Danny Davis of Douglasville, Georgia, Robbie Merriweather (Duane) of Elyria, Ohio, Lillie Owens of Elyria, Ohio, Annie Davis of Elyria, Ohio, Raymona Davis of Elyria, Ohio, Michael Davis of Elyria, Ohio and Ronnie Davis of Tampa, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Davis; parents Johnnie and Lillie (Gilmore) Johnson; grandson, Gregory Sharpe Jr. ; sisters, Mary Lee Tiller, Lizzie Glenn, Ozzie Johnson, Maude Stewart, Johnny Bell Price, Lois Griffin, Hattie Tolbert, Pearl Durr and sister-in-law Queenie Johnson; brothers, Fred Johnson and Furnie Johnson.
A public viewing will take place from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Rd., Elyria, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Willie Gardener will officiate. Burial at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. YOU MUST WEAR A MASK
