Elton Louis Herndon

Elton Louis Herndon, affectionately known as “Hawk,” made his transition from life to eternity on Friday September 20th, 2024.

Elton was born on October 26, 1948, to Albert and Lois Herndon (Nee Gibson).

Elton was employed at I. Schumann for 28 years and retired in 2015. Elton loved the outdoors and staying busy.  Always had to be doing something. He also took pride in his lawn, it had to be just right. He liked going to concerts, spending time with family, camping, and fishing. 

Elton loved watching westerns and was dedicated to sports and a die-hard Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers fan.

Elton leaves to cherish his memory, wife Katrina Williams-Herndon of 24 years, Special Aunt Catherine Hinson, sons Elton & Shelton Mattis,

sister Willa Evans, granddaughter Sheleah Mattis, host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Elton was preceded in death by his father Albert Herndon, mother Lois Sammons, stepfather William Sammons, brother Tyrone Sammons and

Jermaine Howard as stepson. 

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 27th, 2024, at 11am with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11:45am located at God's Believers of Christ Church, 520 W. 22nd St.- Lorain.
