Ejunya Corn Obituary

Ejunya Patilla Corn

“Mama Corn”

Ejunya Patilla Corn, affectionately known by all as “Mama Corn" fulfilled her journey here on earth on Monday, May 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was the ninth child born on July 21, 1941, to William H and Ruth (Bryant) Hill Sr. in Cowan,

TN. Mama Corn completed her education in the Franklin County Tennessee school system,

graduating from Townsend High School where she was a phenomenal high school basketball

player. She also enjoyed and became an avid bowler that participated in several leagues in

Lorain County. She found the love of her life, Collier Corn, at a baseball game in Tennessee.

Mama and Pop Corn joined in holy matrimony on November 2, 1961, in Tennessee. Pop Corn

traveled to Ohio to establish a home for his family. After which, Mama Corn and her firstborn

(Rochell) followed shortly after.

Upon settling in Elyria, Mama Corn united with Second Baptist Church where she held several

positions. Her love for music showed as she sang in the Senior Choir, directed the Male Chorus

and she was one of the founders of The Lorain County Outreach Community Choir.

Mama Corn was very active in her church and held many offices. She helped organize the

Outreach Mission, member of Senior Mission, Church Women United, and Lorain County

Deaconess, and Stewardess. Mama was dedicated to Northern Ohio Baptist District

Association as well as the Sandusky Sub-District.

The heart of mama Corn’s ministry was making sure no one would go hungry. She helped feed at the church and volunteered frequently at Franklin Elementary School; this is how she became a cafeteria worker in the Elyria elementary school district. Mama Corn was truly a blessing to many. She will forever be remembered as a beautiful, God-fearing vessel for HIM. She had such an infectious energy that those around her could not resist. Everybody on the south side of Elyria knew Mama Corn and respected her greatly.

Mama Corn leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, D. Rochell Corn Elyria, OH and Sirena (Darick) Corn-Cain of St. Cloud, FL: 2 grandsons Zion J. Corn, Nashville TN and Dominay W. Cain, St. Cloud FL.; sisters, Ernestine Hill of Nashville, TN; Sallye Jean Speight of New Castle, PA: Maria Butler, of Nashville, TN; brothers Albert (Gladys) Hill of Nashville TN, Charles Hill of Anchorage, Alaska.
