Mrs. Dorothy Louise Wright (Madear) age 97, was born July 15, 1927, to the late Leroy and Willie Rosetta Perkins in Lauderdale County, Tenn.
After graduation from the Lauderdale County schools, she continued her education at Lane College in Jackson, Tenn where she studied to become an elementary teacher. While at Lane, she also met her husband and life-long partner, Roy Wright.
Dorothy moved to Elyria, Ohio with her husband and six children to begin a new chapter in her life. She was blessed with five more children while living in Elyria. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a friend to many and was always willing to listen and impart wisdom when needed. She used those same attributes when teaching her elementary students.
She became a dedicated member of Jones Chapel AME Church and made sure her children became members also. She loved gospel music, and she had a few favorite songs. Her number one song was, I'm On the Battlefield For My Lord. She was always ready and willing to sing it whenever and wherever.
Dorothy entered Hospice care in October 202l with a diagnosis of dementia. With the extra care Hospice offered, her children were able to keep the promise of not putting her in a nursing home. They all became caregivers to make sure her needs were always met.
She went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wright; parents Roy and Willie Perkins; daughter, Minister Beverly Worthy; sons, Michael and David Wright; sisters, Maylee Clemons and Ada Sue Perkins; brother, James Howard Perkins and her grandparents.

She was a very strong woman who spoke her mind, loved deeply and lived her life with passion. She will be greatly missed and leaves a void that is unfillable.
