Obituary
Dorothy J Gooden-Wallace transitioned to heaven on March 2nd,2023. She was born August 9th, 1942, to Nellie Carter and Ellis Carter in Louisville, MS where she lived and graduated before coming up north to Ohio.
Dorothy worked at the L.C.C.C.A Head Start where she retired. Dorothy was a seamstress who loved to collect scarves, mimic recipes from cookbooks, traveling and going out to eat. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with family. She enjoyed chatting with friends and strangers alike. She was very active in her children’s schooling participating on the PTA board, a band Mom and was also a girl scout leader.
Dorothy attended and was a member of G.E.O.M Healing and Deliverance International Church located at 1409 East Ave in Elyria, Ohio under the leadership of Apostle Frances Wallace Sr Pastor.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her children Dennis Gooden Sr (Janet), Benneye Gooden-Young, Linda Gooden, stepchildren: Lloyd (Dorothy) Wallace Jr., Vernon (Denise) Wallace, Rachel Durr, Kent (Pat) Wallace, Faye Wallace, Phillip (Sue) Wallace, and Kyle (Patricia) Wallace, siblings: Earlean Bailey, Merlean Ball, and Leather Young, many grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands: Lloyd Wallace Sr and Bennie Gooden Jr., her parents Ellis and Nellie Carter, son: David Gooden, grandsons: Dennis Gooden Jr., Davien Calloway, Dex Calloway, stepdaughter: Delores Paton, stepsons: Sean Wallace and Kevin Wallace.
Family will be receiving family friends on Thursday March 16th, 2023, at 10am with a celebration of life to follow at 11am. Services will be held at Faith Ministries Christian Center 1306 Euclid Ave in Lorain Ohio.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery Lorain, Ohio.
