Dimple V. Lawson, 94 of Elyria, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2024, after a brief illness. Dimple was born July 27, 1930, in Belvidere, TN to Charles and Elear Taylor. She was the oldest of her two sisters, Flora and Jean.
She was married to Henry Perkins and to their union were born 5 daughters: Patricia, Doris, Henrietta, Stephanie, Wytonia and one son, Henry Jr. She loved her family dearly.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially during the holidays. Her famous sweet potatoe pies and her “special recipe” tropical punch were always favorites.
Dimple was a lady and believed she wasn’t fully dressed without her jewelry!
She was a lifetime member of the Original Church of God and faithfully served diligently as cook, choir member, prayer warrior and regularly attended Sunday School. She served wherever and did whatever her hands could find to do for the Lord.
After the death of her husband many years later, she married Walter Lawson and to this union she added a bonus daughter, Valerie. After Walter’s death in 2019 and when she could no longer care for herself, she moved to Life Care Nursing facility where both staff and residents loved her, and she shared her many years of wisdom with them and her love of God to all that would listen. She regularly attended church services and was regularly active participating in all resident-related activities.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by two sisters, Flora Childress and Jean Henry, daughters: Patrica Gooden, Doris Talyor, Henrietta Wilson and Wytonia White. Grandson, Leonard Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters; Stehpanie (Sonny) Wilson of Elyria OH, Valerie (Chris) Robinson of Oberlin OH; son, Henry Jr. (Terri) Perkins of Lorain OH. Grandchildren; Troy Taylor, Tracy King, Shannon Taylor, Lashonda Perkins, Wendy Whitfield, Marcray Edwards, Angel Perkins, Shatika White, Terri White, Rashgene Gazi, Ersell White, LaToya Perkins, Shiro Perkins, MyEsha Perkins and Britney Perkins, 35 great grandchildren and 28 great great-grandchildren and a host of family members, nieces, nephews and friends.
