Dessie Mae Moore 95, passed peacefully on Tuesday April 18, 2023, at Sprenger Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was surrounded by loved ones. She was born June 23, 1927, in Alabama. Dessie moved to Elyria as a young adult, and it has been her home ever since.
Dessie was the family caretaker. When she wasn't taking care of loved ones, she had a passion for quilting. She also enjoyed bingo and crossword puzzles.
Dessie will be sadly missed by her daughters Kate Colbert and Annie (Poon) Moore-Hamilton both of Elyria. Sister, Mary Anne (Johnny) Evans of Lorain, Brothers, Otis (Josephine) Alston and James (Virginia) Alston both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by parents, Lawyer and Georgia Taylor, sisters, Louvenia Hollis, Maple Jackson, Rose Ann Johnson, Rosie Capers, Frances Taylor and Janie Bell Nobel. Brothers, Tummer Alson of Lorain, and Peter (Jessie) Alston of Alabama.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church 2340 Crehore Street, Lorain, Oh from 10am until time of service at 11 am.
