Debra Taylor

Beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio. She was 55 years old. Debbie Taylor was born on January 29, 1965 in Elyria to Thurman and Norma Taylor. She is an alumni of Elyria High School, Class of 1983.

Debbie was a woman of faith. She attended The Church Next Door in Columbus, Ohio and was intimately involved in her family bible study. She was someone who went above and beyond to make others feel welcomed, appreciated and loved.

She loved singing and won multiple karaoke contests, was always up for some bingo, and never turned down a trip to the casino. She was an avid football fan, especially her Buckeyes and Browns. She would entertain and cook for anyone passing through her kitchen. Her greatest love of all was her son, Carlos.

Debbie’s love is carried forward by, her son, Carlos Taylor (Shane Swenson) of Los Angeles, CA; parents, Thurman Taylor of Elyria, and Norma Taylor of San Antonio, TX; sister, Maria Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Tommy Williams Jr. (Cassaundra); niece, Miyana Brown of San Antonio; great-nieces and nephew, Tamaria Williams, Leraeya Taylor, Timani Williams and Tommy Williams III of San Antonio; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Her passing now reunites her with her beloved niece, Nancy “Nia” Taylor.

Service will be held at the Second Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Public walkthrough wake will be from 10:30-11:45am; private homegoing service will begin at 12:00pm. (Social distancing and masks required).  We encourage attendees to wear bright colors to honor her joyful spirit.
