Deacon William (Trick) Porter Obituary

William Edward Porter went to his heavenly home on Sunday October 25, 2020. He was born August 3,1929 in Chapman, Alabama. William is preceded in death by his wife Jessie Porter of over 60 years, son Michael A. Porter, parents Dollie and Eris Porter, brothers Willie and Ennis Porter, and sisters Buena Murray and Mary Francis Hooks.

William became a lifelong resident of Ohio after his move from Alabama to begin working for the City of Elyria and Elyria Foundry before he began work at the Lorain Ford Motor Company for over 20 years. He had been a faithful member of Original Glorious Apostolic Church for over 50 years. While also serving as an Ohio Diocese superintendent for many years along as a Deacon teaching Sunday school and bible study as well as being an active member in the OGAC Men’s choir. Deacon Porter was always strong-willed man of God who loved attending church services and spending time with family and friends. Those who had a pleasure of meeting him knew his high spirits left a long-lasting impression on others.

William touched the lives of many with his wisdom and generosity he will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by children William Porter Jr of Lorain, OH, Charles Edward Porter (Tracy Porter) of Olmsted Township, OH, Ollie Whitfield of Elyria, OH, Diane Allgood of Atlanta, GA, Janice Hitchens (Samuel Hitchens) of Lorain, OH, Terry Trimble (Fred Trimble) of Elyria, OH, and Vicki Albright (David Albright) of Elyria, OH.  Sister and Brothers, Mary, John, and Charles  Porter. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.

A walk-thru viewing will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Faith Ministries Christian Center, 1306 Euclid Ave, Lorain Ohio. From 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. and the “Celebration of Life” at 11:00a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, you are required to wear a MASK and Social Distancing is a must.
