Darryl "Reb" White Obituary

Darryl Lee White, affectionately known as “Reb”, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2024, after a brief illness.

He was known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and playful spirit. Darryl was born on October 7, 1959, at Elyria Memorial Hospital — the youngest of six children, born to the late Ora Lee White and Georgia Marie Allen.

Darryl was educated in the Elyria School system and held various jobs throughout the area. An avid sports fan, he loved the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers. On most summer days, you could find him fishing, barbequing, attending concerts, volunteering with the youth baseball teams, or hanging with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Braxton Shannon and longtime partner and mother of his children, Kimberly Shannon; parents, Ora L. White and Georgia Marie Allen; maternal grandparents, George Macon and Alma Willmore; paternal grandparents, Robert and Ella B Sherrod; sisters, Gayle M. Gibbons, Almaleen Williams and Ann R. "Chinch" White; brother, Raymond “Dennis" Howard.

Darryl leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Derrion Shannon (caregiver) and Desmen Noble both of Elyria; two brothers, Darnell (Maggie) White of Lorain and Derek White of Texas; sister, Vickie Felder of Elyria; aunt, Jean Cash of Oberlin; three uncles, Bobbie Sherrod and Ronondo Sherrod of Oberlin, and Tracy (Diana) Mobley of Elyria; two special children, Aneshia and Christopher Allgood of Elyria; eleven grandchildren; special friends, Craig and Emma Gingery, Derek Yarber, Terry Robinson, Tracy Robinson, and James "Buster" Simmons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly, and they returned that love tenfold.

A viewing will be held on Sunday May 5th, 2024, from 3pm to 4pm with a celebration of life to begin at 4pm at Carter Funeral Home 127 W Bridge St Elyria, OH.
