Danny E Davis

Danny Edward Davis was born on November 14, 1949 in Abbeville, Alabama to Raymond and Eunice (Johnson) Davis. His journey ended on Monday, June 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his beloved family whom he loved dearly.

Danny graduated from Elyria High School in 1967 where he was a celebrated track star. After high school, he attended Central State University. He enlisted in the United States Army and was discharged as a Sergeant in 1974. Danny retired from Ford Motor Company on March 1, 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service.

Danny was a passionate motor cycle rider. He was a member of the Sophisticated Gents Motorcycle Club of Lorain, OH. He was a motorcycle and car enthusiast, an outdoorsman and a sportsman. He loved fishing, track and field, football and basketball. Throughout his life he owned several Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Corvettes, Trucks, Jeeps, Boats and most recently a Dodge Challenger Shaker. 

He is survived by his children: Danesha Gardner of Euclid, OH and Danny Davis Jr. (Shaquila) of Douglasville, GA.; 4 sisters: Robbie Merriweather (Duane) of Elyria, Annie Davis of Elyria, Lillie Owens of Elyria and Raymona Davis of Elyria, OH; 2 brothers: Ronnie Davis of Tampa, FL and Michael Davis of Elyria, OH. 6 grandchildren: Taylor Gardner, Ivore’ Green, Danny Davis III, Jeremiah Taylor, Jayden Davis and Jacob Davis; aunts: Minnie Whitten of Elyria and Dorothy Johnson of Fremont, OH and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who were near and dear to his heart.    

He is preceded in death by his parents Eunice and Raymond Davis; grandparents: Annie Rose and Dan Whitten; and Lille and Johnnie Johnson; nephew Gregory Sharpe Jr; aunts: Lucy Bulger, Mary Lee Tiller, Lizzie Glenn, Ozzie Johnson, Maude Stewart, Johnnie Bell Price, Lois Griffin, Hattie Tolbert, Pearl Durr; and uncles: Fred Johnson and Fernie Johnson.

Family and Friends will be received on Friday, June 11,2021 in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel/Elyria, 127 West Bridge Street, for a walk through only from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. The "Celebration of Life" will be on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Rd, Elyria, starting at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery.
